After leaving school and initially qualifying as a hairdresser, where I won the ‘Midlands Apprentice of the Year’ award, life took me down the path of Motherhood. I gained employment with Midland Helicopters Ltd, where I spent 19 wonderful years working alongside Trevor Wallinger, in various roles from Mail Order Processing and Bookkeeping Assistant, to Sales and Customer Services. After completing my family and reaching a milestone Birthday which had me self reflecting on life, I’d gained at least 10 years’ experience practising massage on friends and family where I would receive nothing but positive feedback, and so with encouragement I finally decided it was time to turn a passionate and much-loved hobby, into a career.

I trained through an internationally known and award-winning Academy, Penny Price Academy of Aromatherapy where during the initial waves of restrictions during the national Covid pandemic, I completed my final practical and theory exams, which I passed with Distinction. With high pass rates and Distinctions on all courses, I have formed a wonderful working partnership with the Academy and I have become well known amongst Tutors and Course Managers for my high achievements and willingness to go the extra mile.

Since gaining my massage qualifications, I found myself become increasingly excited about the massive, positive impact just a few drops of Essential Oils can have on the body and so I have recently begun studying towards gaining a Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy. This will undoubtedly further enhance my very much, ‘client centred’ treatment sessions. I also have a keen interest and personal experience in supporting those with mental health difficulties through massage and Reiki and I’m keen to further develop my career by completing add-on courses to become more specialised in this field in the future.

It was really by sheer chance that I discovered I could channel Reiki energy, I’d never even heard of it until a lady leapt out of her chair in excitement and said “Reiki!” and so I sought the expertise of my Stepmother, a well known Chiropractor in the South East and my Father, who is also qualified in many different healing techniques, such as massage and Zen Yoga. My Father, full of pride at my discovery and himself attuned, offered to become my Reiki Master of the First Degree and 18 months later, I returned to him to become attuned to the Second Degree. Completing my Second Degree studies has enabled me to become a fully qualified Reiki Practitioner. Once my current Aromatherapy studies are complete, I have plans to continue my Reiki journey and becoming a Master, which will allow the energy to flow on a wider and even stronger bandwidth and will also enable me to teach Reiki to others.

I’ve spent the last 12 months freely giving my massage and Reiki skills once a week to a local charity in Leicester, Sue Young Cancer Support, where I have become a highly spoke of CT Volunteer amongst the team and apparently by the Board during meetings. My massage and Reiki treatments are very popular amongst the Clients, who return week after week to receive another much-enjoyed therapy session with me, to the point where there is often a waiting list. I hope to continue my work here on a Monday, for as long as possible as the feeling of driving home having helped people affected by Cancer and those around them, is an indescribable feeling, and I absolutely love it.
